Student Life

at Concordia Academy

As a parent, you are looking for the best possible high school experience for your teen. Over these next four years, you want them to have every opportunity to get involved and feel known in their learning community as they create rich memories and healthy friendships. And you want them to have some fun!

At Concordia Academy, we want the same things. We want your child to explore their unique talents and interests and figure out what they’re good at and what they love doing. And while we firmly believe that strong academics and college prep are important, we also believe that a well-rounded education extends beyond the classroom. That’s why we offer so many valuable enrichment opportunities.

Whether your teen is a competitive athlete, a budding artist, or just interested in trying something new, we believe he or she will find a community with like-minded peers who share similar interests. We live, learn, and play together!

Spiritual Life

As a Christian school, Concordia Academy has sought to create an atmosphere where “iron sharpens iron” (Proverbs 27:17).

For this reason, each student is a part of a Family Life Group, which nurtures their faith within a micro-community with all four grade levels represented. Learning how to be good brothers and sisters in Christ informs and transforms everything that happens in the classroom, hallways, athletic fields, and beyond our campus, which is why Family Life Groups are the heartbeat of our student life.

Athletics

If your teen is into sports, they will fit right in! With 75% of students participating in at least one sport during their time at Concordia Academy, they will learn discipline, commitment, and teamwork, all while having fun with their coaches and teammates. We know your teen has talent, and we want to cultivate and develop those gifts on and off the field.

Some of the sports we offer at Concordia Academy are:

  • Football
  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Track & Field
  • Dance and more!

Fine Arts

Do you have a performer or artist in the family? Over 80% of students are enrolled in a fine arts class each year. We also have ensembles and two annual theatre productions. Our award-winning productions combine state-of-the-art sound, lighting, and set design with outstanding performances. Your teen will have every opportunity to sing, design sets, or make audiences stand in applause with the tools they need to show creative expression.

Clubs

With a variety of clubs, students can explore interests, pursue academic excellence, and develop new skills, all while finding joy and satisfaction in the process! We have faculty members who serve as mentors and advisors for each club because we believe community takes place not only student-to-student, but also faculty-to-student.

Our clubs rotate based on student interest. Here are a few of our most popular clubs:

  • Student Activities Board
  • Boys and girls Bible studies
  • Theatre
  • Book clubs
  • Pro-Life Students
  • Global Partners
  • Student Worship Team
  • Robotics (for participants enrolled in the Engineering and Robotics class)

Service Learning

At Concordia Academy, our goal is to facilitate opportunities for your teen to develop a mission mindset. Whether they go on to become a CEO of a company or pursue one of the trades, they will live a life of impact.

While your teen is studying in our Spanish classes, we take international trips. And if they’re in the choir, they will go on tours all over the country. These opportunities will cultivate a desire to reach the hurting, the outcast, and the lost with the hope of the gospel as your teen learns to live out the great commission.

Student Leadership

On campus, every student has the opportunity to take on leadership roles in chapel and other worship-related activities. They will have the chance to tutor younger students, participate in the National Honor Society, become a Student Ambassador, do service projects, and aid teachers during study hall.

We believe in giving students the opportunity to grow in servanthood, character, and stature while pursuing their academic goals. To be a Beacon means honoring God through excellence in every capacity. We believe the high school experience should be holistic — one that has a lifelong impact.

Special Events

We believe that a healthy balance of learning and fun create an environment where your teen will thrive. Through events like our Homecoming dance, Prom, and SnoDaze, teens are encouraged to have a ball (pun intended).

Retreats & Trips

Retreats allow our students to truly step away from the classroom and focus on their relationship with God and one another. We want to help your teen develop relationships that last well beyond their high school years. If you are a freshman coming into the school, we have a retreat tailored specifically to you! And if you’re a transfer student, we offer a senior retreat as well.

Every year, our students have a three-day service and seminar program called Vision4Life, which allows our students to live out their faith in a practical way. They are given the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus as they build their faith by performing service projects throughout the Twin Cities metro area. This award-winning program retreat is the highlight of the year for most of our students and teachers.
