Senior Year

at Concordia Academy

As parents, it can feel like yesterday that you were dropping your child off at kindergarten. You’ve blinked, and now, they’re about to wrap up their last year of high school. Perhaps you’re just as nervous as you were thinking about how their last year at home will be or if they will be prepared for college. We want to alleviate any trepidation you may have about your senior’s college prep and future-readiness.

Concordia Academy provides Christian learning opportunities that invite spiritual growth while nurturing academic excellence. We exist to lead, teach, and inspire students to become all that God would have them be: a doctor, an engineer, a teacher, or an enlisted soldier. Concordia helps students become ready to face their futures with confidence.

During junior and senior years, your teen can choose from 25 college classes on campus — giving them a head start and helping them solidify their faith and explore career options. At Concordia, we aim for excellence in learning, but never lose sight of the fact that learning should be fun, too. If you’re ready to enroll, please contact admissions.

About Concordia’s Senior Experience

Academic Tracks

Concordia graduates are fully equipped and confident in taking the next step God has prepared for them — whether it’s college, the military, or career training. Regardless of their post-graduation plans, seniors fill out college applications, learn about scholarship opportunities, and receive academic guidance as they consider their options. Through our College on Campus program, they can get a head start on earning college credits without leaving Concordia’s classrooms. For seniors needing a little more help,  our Resource Room provides the one-on-one attention they may need.

During the school year, seniors keep a healthy course schedule, and those in our Concordia Cohorts program complete an internship portfolio, enter their project and papers in a regional science fair, complete their capstone project, and give a public performance or display.

See how Concordia’s senior course load will complement your previous high school experience.

Classes and extracurriculars

Many opportunities are built into the curriculum to encourage your senior’s exploration of the arts. Over 60% of the student body is enrolled in a fine art class each semester. Regardless of entry skill level, your senior will experience the arts in a nurturing and encouraging community. Instruction is built into the school day, placed alongside core classes such as science and literature to facilitate balanced brain development. Clubs and other extracurricular activities allow students to explore their passions, pursue academic excellence, and develop new skills.

Athletics

In athletics, we foster excellence, knowing it honors God and inspires us all. Leadership opportunities, discipline, teamwork, and practice have led to several state tournament championship games. More than 75% of students participate in CA sports before graduation.

In Friday Cohort Conversations, these students come together during extended lunch periods and connect with guest speakers who are experts in their fields.

College on Campus

With  25 college-credit courses taught on campus, students earn credits from Concordia Academy and Concordia University, St. Paul. Seniors receive a college transcript from Concordia University upon completing a college class. This transcript can be transferred to any university that accepts college transfer credits.

CA has played an enormous role in making me into the man I am today. Being in a high school environment where there are so many opportunities to thrive as a student, athlete, and Christian is something unparalleled by other schools. I was able to complete 42 college credits through Concordia Academy, knocking out a whole year’s worth of classes at my university. I was also able to do this while being a two-sport athlete participating in football and Track and Field, along with being a part of the Skyline Conference weightlifting champion team. The environment of CA is one that encourages you to succeed. The teachers and staff genuinely care about their students, and that is what allows them to thrive.”

At Concordia, Our Student Life Sets Us Apart

Whether your teen is gifted academically, in the arts, or has a strong faith, we celebrate their talents and abilities:

  • Our annual Honors Convocation recognizes  our seniors for their outstanding academic, extra-curricular, and service achievements.
  • CA’s valedictorian and salutatorian receive recognition at our Honors Convocation and graduation. Their graduation speeches are always a highlight for seniors and their families.
  • Annual events, such as Homecoming and Prom, are student favorites.
  • SnoDaze is an annual week of fun when students escape the mid-winter blahs with unusual but delightful dress-up days and games.
  • Family Life Groups allow seniors to learn and grow in their faith by serving as leaders within micro-groups of students from all four grade levels.
  • Each year, Vision4Life, a three-day combination of service opportunities, seminars, and worship, allows every student the chance to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.
  • A senior retreat is a special time for seniors to spur one another on before they step out and make their marks on the world.
  • Beacon Buddies provides an opportunity for seniors to grow in leadership by mentoring 1st-4th grade students from the community in Saturday morning soccer and basketball camps. Additionally, seniors can volunteer during the day at elementary schools near Concordia.
