Clubs

Not into sports? Terrified of performing on stage? Don’t worry…you can still be involved in student life outside of the classroom! Concordia Academy offers numerous clubs and other extracurricular activities that give students the opportunity to explore interests, pursue academic excellence, and develop new skills. Some are offered year-round, while others are offered for shorter periods of time. Some meet weekly, while other groups gather less often. Interested in a club you don’t see listed below? Based on student interests, we’re always looking for new offerings.

Listed below are some of the club opportunities that are regularly offered at CA.

ARCHERY

CA Archery follows the NASP guidelines, which allows an archer to compete at a state and national level.  Students learn focus, self-control, discipline, patience, and the life lessons to be successful in school and in life. No previous experience is necessary.

BEACONS4LIFE

Beacons4Life is a student-led group dedicated to supporting and celebrating life—from conception through every stage. The group seeks to raise awareness of the unique and purposeful ways God has created each person, focusing on care and support for unborn babies, mothers, and individuals with physical or cognitive differences.

BIBLE STUDIES

Led by staff and/or students, men’s and women’s Bible studies regularly meet during lunch or before school.

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB

Students hone their writing skills in this workshop-style club by bringing writing to share, including stories, poetry, articles, and college application essays.

DIRT DIGGERS

Come learn more about plants, share your love of plants, and help care for plants! Time together includes watering and propagating plants indoors and outdoors at school and may also include sharing plants from home, including adoptions and “take homes!” 

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES

This sports ministry is focused on equipping and empowering athletes and coaches to grow in their relationship with the Lord.

INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL

This intramural activity is open to any non-winter sport athlete. No basketball experience is required. Students make up their own co-ed teams, playing once or twice per week for approximately 40 minutes. A CA staff team typically plays the students at some point in the season.

JAZZ BAND 

This group of students learns about, listens to, and practices jazz music, culminating in concert performances.

MATH CLUB

CA’s math-loving teens complete challenges and competes at Math Day at Concordia University, St. Paul.

PEER SUPPORT 

This group of teens is trained in supporting friends who are struggling socially, academically, or emotionally. Group members work under the supervision of trained staff to know when to partner with adults in support of their friends.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP TEAM

This audition-based group supports our Campus Pastor by leading music during worship at twice-weekly chapels.

PRAYER TEAM

Throughout the week, a student-led prayer team lifts up prayer requests from students and staff members. In addition, a prayer gathering occurs regularly. 

SCHOLASTIC ACTION SHOOTING PROGRAM (SASP)

In the fall and spring, participants learn about shooting sports (trap, skeet, sporting clays, and steel) while having a lot of safe fun! This is an informal group that does not compete as part of the Minnesota State High School League.

STUDENT AMBASSADORS

Student Ambassadors represent Concordia Academy at events both inside and outside of the school’s walls. Student Ambassadors participate in events like New Student Orientation, Open Houses, the spring Gala, and more. Activities include taking interested families on tours of the school, leading group activities for junior high students, and hosting prospective students during Shadow Days. Students are nominated for this team by their teachers and
go through an interview process and training in order to become Student Ambassadors.

TECH TEAM

This team is a group of tech-interested students building peer relationships and critically solving technology problems while assisting with technical needs during chapel and assemblies, as well as other day-to-day campus technology needs. 

THEATRE

Concordia Academy’s Theatre Department sponsors two productions during the year, typically a play in the fall and a musical in the spring.  All students are invited to try out for dramatic or musical roles or join the stage crews for set design, sound and lighting, makeup, and costuming. 

WEIGHTLIFTING

The weight room is open to all interested students looking to improve their fitness level.  Top lifters compete in the Skyline Weightlifting Competition each spring.  

WORLD CULTURE CLUB

This groups celebrated and learns about other cultures through new languages, fun games, interesting stories, and of course, trying good foods. World Culture Club promotes cultural awareness for all
CA students.

YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT

Youth In Government (YIG) is a hands-on civic learning program where students immerse themselves in government and politics through focused discussions on current issues and activities. Program areas include social events, engaging activities, small-group reflection, and hands-on leadership development, such as Youth Day At The Capitol and the four-day YIG conference where students run a state model government in the Capitol Complex.

OTHER GROUPS

Other clubs such as Art Club, Chess Club, Speech Club, and Book Club  may offered, based on factors such as student interest and staff advisor availability.
