Distance Learning Days
Distance Learning Days allow us to maintain instructional continuity and support teaching and learning even when students cannot be on campus.
Distance Learning Days will be used only when we can plan for them in advance and communicate the decision to families prior to the Distance Learning Day. They may be used due to projected weather conditions or other special circumstance. Our goal is to support student safety while ensuring consistent learning. Once a Distance Learning Day is confirmed, families will be notified through our standard communication platforms.
If heavy snowfall or dangerous cold weather occurs unexpectedly overnight or in the early morning—making advance notice impossible—we will follow a traditional “snow day” schedule, and no school will be held.
How do Distance Learning Days work?
- Students will need access to the internet and a device to work from. (Their school-issued Chromebooks are ideal.)
- By 9:00 am, teachers will share lesson and assignment information with students, including expectations and due dates, which will be posted in Google Classroom.
- All work on Distance Learning Days will be completed asynchronously, though teachers will typically remain available throughout our regular school day hours to support students and to answer questions.
- The expectation is that the work for each high school class can be completed in 30 minutes or less.
- College students should check their MyCourses platform and CSP email for any college coursework that they may need to do.
- Students who are taking a high school online class can expect to follow the normal instructions given for that week.
- Assignment due dates for work on Distance Learning Days will be determined and clearly communicated by each teacher.
