History of Concordia Academy
Concordia Academy, a Lutheran high school, originated in 1893 as the high school of Concordia College, St. Paul, and in 1967 merged with St. Paul Lutheran High School at 2400 North Dale St. in Roseville. The school was owned and operated the Lutheran High School Association of St. Paul.
The Lutheran High School Association of Greater Minneapolis formed in 1959 with the membership of nine area Lutheran congregations. In the fall of 1963, Lutheran High School opened with grades 9 and 10. The first building at 42nd and Wentworth in Minneapolis was eventually sold, and Lutheran High School rented space in the Edina Community Center for ten years. In 1990, the current building, located at 8201 Park Avenue South was purchased.
In 2004, the St. Paul Lutheran High School Association took over the operation of Lutheran High School in Bloomington, 8201 Park Avenue South, which became Concordia Academy-Bloomington in July 2005. In July, 2007, the Roseville school became officially known as Concordia Academy-Roseville and the two associations merged as the Concordia Academy Association of Schools with 34 member congregations. Concordia Academy-Bloomington was able to operate four additional years because of the partnership with Concordia. IT closed in May of 2009 because of financial and enrollment difficulties.
Today, more than 400 students from the greater metro area are enrolled in grades 9-12 at CA-Roseville.
