Present policy requires that every student attending all four years acquire twenty-four units. These units must include the following areas: English: 4 credits Religion: 4 credits -- or 1 credit per year of attendance Social Studies: 3 credits Fine Arts: 2 credits Mathematics: 3 credits Science: 2 credits Physical Education: 1-1/2 credits Health: 1/2 credits Keyboarding: 1/2 credits Other Electives: 4-1/2 credits A credit is a class which meets every class day in a block period (85 minutes) during a semester. Classes which meet during a half-block ("skinny") earn .5 credit per semester. Further details are given in the course description. The study of a foreign language is not a graduation requirement but is highly recommended by several colleges. College-bound students are encouraged to complete two units of the same language while in high school.
