Phil Aurich ('99) Update

October 10, 2017

Phil AurichPhilip Aurich, a 1999 Concordia Academy graduate and son of longtime CA teacher Mike Aurich, was one of the  shooting victims in Las Vegas on October 1. He continues to recover and is now able to take short walks. His sister-in-law Sheila writes, "We know he still has a very long, painful journey ahead of him. Please continue to support him with prayers and messages of encouragement. He has started reading them and is very much looking forward to talking and visiting with more people. "

Phil's family has also shared with us that, while they are appreciative of the many people who have asked about helping the family financially, they will be well taken care of and aren't in need of financial support. Instead, if you would like to make a financial contribution, they've suggested that donations be made to the GoFundMe page for the children of Steve Berger, the Minnesota man who was killed in the Las Vegas shooting. Those donations can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/steve-berger-memorial-fund.

The family also suggested that notes of appreciation be sent to the staff at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, who they say have done an amazing job caring for Phil and the hundreds of other victims. That address is

University Medical Center
1800 W Charleston Blvd
Las Vegas, NV 89102

If you would live to send a card to Phil, CA will be happy to collect them and send them on to him. You can drop off cards or mail them to

We thank God for the progress Phil has made and ask that you continue to keep him, his family, and all those affected by the Las Vegas tragedy in your prayers!
